Whether you are just starting out or have been in the professional realm for a long time, it is never too late to tap into your inner badass.
To tap into HER, modifying your: mindset, attitude and work ethic is crucial if you want to ascend to the next level of your career.
MINDSET
How you think determines how you feel and how you feel affects what you do. The beautiful thing about mindset is that you can actually shift it overnight. So what exactly does that shift look like?
It looks like this:
Simply Start: You really do not have to know it all. Simply start. Take that first step and you will find the answers along the way. If you wait until you feel ready, you will spend your entire lifetime waiting. Take that leap of faith.
The Power Of Progress: When you do start, focus on showing up consistently. Do not delay action because you feel like it will not be “perfect” at that exact moment. Focus on making progress, you can always come back to it and make it better. The art of consistency > Outbursts of intensity.
Faith: As humans we have the tendency to hyper fixate on an outcome. It is totally understandable, of course we want this new goal of ours to break the bank. However, becoming obsessive in an unhealthy way will deprive you from enjoying the scenery along the road to your destination. Which is why trusting the process is so important…and have some fun while you are at it!
ATTITUDE
How you do one thing is how you do everything. The energy you bring to your work is just as important as the “logical” measures.
So be that girl boss who shows up with:
Optimism: Approach everything with the sense of belief that it will work out for you. When you feel good, other people around you will be able to sense it. You will find that more people want to connect with you professionally and have you on their team.
Enthusiasm: Feeling excited to work on a new project and bringing your excellence to the table will elevate the output of your efforts. Instead of looking at it as “oh just another project”, attach deeper meaning to it, create a narrative if you will. Almost as though you are playing the main character in a movie… seriously it's time you start having some fun.
WORK ETHIC
We are sure that sometimes (or maybe most of the time), you work for long hours but end up feeling like you did not get much done. We hear you, been there…done that, time to do better.
Here are some productivity tools that will make sure you work smarter instead of harder:
Time blocking: The idea here is to simply set aside a timeline in which you plan to do a certain task, and then only focus on that. Example: “From 1 to 2 pm I will write a few sections for my blog post”.
Scheduling: Make a calendar plan for the week, we know…we know, it seems so daunting or in a way “oppressive” having your life scheduled down to the T. But by having a calendar, you can clearly see what is on your agenda, and set aside time for doing the things you love… ah yes, do not forget to schedule that in too!
Pomodoro technique: This is more of a work style, where you break down your task into smaller chunks. What you want to do is focus on doing uninterrupted work for 25 minutes and then take a 5 minute break. You then want to repeat this 3 or 4 times, and then take a longer break before your next work session.
These are some areas to invest in if you want to thrive in your career. Step by step, you got this!
